* Congratulations to the Antonian Track and Field Team
for their great performance at this last weekend's State Track Meet.
The Girls Team place 5th and the Boys Team placed 7th. Nate Jones
was the high point man for the entire 6A division. Nate placed 3rd
in the triple jump, 2nd in the 110 and 300 hurdles and 4th in the long
jump as well as anchoring the 1600 meter relay. Nate has placed in
the top 3 in most of his events this season scoring a total of 118
points in the last 3 meets.
* This is a reminder to all boys who would like to
play football. Spring training begins this afternoon in the
weight room. Come and meet the new fitness trainer and join in the
new winning tradition "The Antonian Wrecking Crew".
* Attention all Renaissance Rally Crew and Munchie
Cart Crew members: Our end-of-year party is after school on Monday
in the Student Center. Please sign up outside room 303 if you plan
to attend.
* Attention all Track and Field members: The
uniforms are due to Coach Martinez no later than Friday, May 11.

* Attention all students: Your community service
hour sheets are due this Friday, May 11. Students, please be sure
to get all the correct signatures, make a copy for your records and turn
in your service hour sheets to your Theology teacher. Even if you
have not completed all the hours, please turn in what you have and make
up the hours this summer.
* Tomorrow we will have our last 7:40am Mass before
school. Please come and join us as we thank Fr. Martin Leopold for
saying Mass for us in the mornings. This is a great way to begin
preparing for finals for both teachers and students. Join us in

Senior Mass entrance procession. We will meet in the auditorium
during senior advisory on Tuesday to prepare for your senior Mass on
Thursday. The list of those in the entrance procession is posted
in your Theology classroom.
* Congratulations to the entire Antonian Track and
Field Team for their outstanding performance in the District Meet.
The Girls Team finished 1st and the Boys Team finished 2nd.
Individual results are as follows: Nate Jones won 4 individual races and
was anchor to the 2nd place 1600 relay. He scored a meet high 44
points. Nate ranks 9th in the 300 hurdles and 5th in the 200 meter
in Central Texas against all schools. Shea Nelson placed 1st in
the discus and 2nd in the shot put. Nick Nanez placed 1st in the
shot put and Beto San Miguel placed 2nd in the discus. Jack
Michel, Chris Crane, Michael Long and Nate Jones placed 2nd in the 1600
meter relay. Jorge Aburto, Chris Ivone, Jack Michel and Stuart
Lenz placed 2nd in the 400 meter relay. Our 400 and 800 meter
girls relays teams remained undefeated for the entire year. The
girls 1600 meter relay placed 2nd. The following girls make up the
relay teams: McKenzie Pesnell, Frankie Bernier, Ashley Buenrostro,
Andrea Arizpe, Leslie Heintzelman, Allison Michel, Jane Neiheisel, Meg
McGoldrick, Nicki Martinez and Paige Bishop. Bianca Aguillon
placed 1st in the discus and Greta Porisch placed 2nd in the 800 meter.
We are sending 28 athletes to the State Meet this weekend - Good Luck,
Tracksters and Congratulations on a great season!

* Happy Birthday today to Laura Camero, Stephanie
Hunsicker, Claudia Ibarra, Steven Otake and Andrew Ramirez
* The Apache Softball Team played the Holy Cross
Knights last night. The JV Apaches started off the night with a
victory over the Knights winning 7-1. Freshman Maricela Bissaro
struck out 4 batters for the night. The JV Apaches finished their
season with a record of 6-1. Great job! The Varsity Apaches
also played the Knights last night but did not come out with a win.
The Apaches fell to the Knights 13-8 when the game was called due to
lightning. The Varsity Apaches finished the district season with a
6-4 record and placed 3rd in district. They will face St. Agnes
Academy in Houston on May 4 for the start of the playoff rounds.
* Congratulations to junior Natalie Uy on her 8th
place finish at the State Golf Tournament. Also in the top 12
finishers in the state were freshman Stephanie Uy with an 11th place
finish and Eddie DeVane with an 11th place finish in the boys division.
Well done, golfers, on a successful golf season!

* The Literary Magazine will be accepting submissions
in room 305 through Wednesday, May 2. All black and white art
entries, poems, short stories and essays will be considered.
Please submit each entry with a cover page containing name, grade, title
of piece and email address. There should be no identifying
information on the submitted piece itself.
* All Talent Show participants need to report to the
auditorium Wednesday after school for a brief run through. Please
bring any music or props needed.
* All "Intent to Run" forms for Student Council are
due tomorrow to Mrs. Kadane by 4:00pm. Applications are due by
Monday April 30. Anyone still interested in running for Student
Council can talk to Mrs. Kadane today.
* Attention Antonian community: We will have
Mass tomorrow morning at 7:40am in the Chapel. Everyone is welcome
to come join us for Mass before school begins.

* Happy Birthday today to Bianca Aguillon and Angela

* The Tennis Team faced some very tough competition at
the State Meet in Waco. Most of the Antonian players met seeded
players in the first round. However, Gina and Samantha Cangelosi
again reached the semi-finals with some great doubles play.
Congratulations to all ten players who made it to the State Tournament.
* Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field Team
for their 1st place finish in the District Meet this past weekend.
Also, Congratulations to the Boys Track and Field Team for their 2nd
place finish in the District Meet. On to State!
* The Apache Softball Team played Friday night at the
Antonian field against St. Michael's Academy. The JV Team started
the night off with a victory for the Apaches with a score of 12-0.
Freshman Katelyn Beiter struck out 8 of 15 batters faced. Freshmen
Liz Briones and Katelyn Beiter along with junior Caitlin Cortines went 2
for 3 for the night, each adding 2 runs on the board for the Apaches.
Before the start of the Varsity game, all parents and senior players
were recognized and honored for their hard work and dedication to the
program. The Varsity Apaches finished the night with a victory
over the Crusaders by a score of 10-0. Melissa Beiter struck out 6
batters for the night. Junior Danielle Cruz went 3 for 3 with 4
RBI's. Congratulations Varsity Apaches for clinching a spot in the
playoffs. The Apaches will take on Holy Cross tomorrow night at
5:00 and 7:00 here at Antonian. Go Apache Softball!
* The Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Holy Cross
this past weekend assuring them an advancement into the post-district
play. The Apaches will take on Cathedral, El Paso this Thursday at
4:30 at the Antonian field.
* Congratulations to the Freshmen Class for holding a
successful lock-in which raised $2,625 for Operation Rice Bowl.
Thank you very much to Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Meche, Ms. Pina, Ms. Nino,
Coach Ross and Coach Anno for helping make the event a success!
* All senior athletes, dance team members,
cheerleaders and band members will have their pictures taken for the
Booster Club's end of the year banquet. Pictures will be taken
during senior advisory and lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday. No
retakes, so be in attendance. The banquet for all athletes, dance
team, cheerleaders and band members will be Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 at
St. Mary's University. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday.

office, please pick up a nomination form from Mrs. Segura in room 204.
Forms need to be in by Wednesday, April 25.
* Team and individual pictures for baseball and

school. All track and field members should pick up your order
forms from Coach Martinez immediately after school today. Baseball
players will pick up their order forms from Coach Sanchez today in the
field house.

certificate for the summer when Coach Sansavera will hold classes this

* The NHS would like to thank those juniors and

Internationales as they present "La Noche de los Estrellas". The

* Happy Birthday today to Alanna D'Antonio, Garrett
Johnson, Stephen Kruppa and Joshua Brooks
* The Apache Softball Team played the Holy Cross
Knights last evening. JV Apaches started off the night with a
victory over the Knights 1-0. Freshman Maricela Bissaro struck out
5 batters for the night. The Varsity Apaches continued with a win
over the Knights with a score of 4-1. The Apaches were down 1-0
when the Knights scored a run in the first inning and continued to hold
the lead through the 6th inning. In the 6th inning senior Brittany
Sandoval had an over the fence homerun, her second for the season and a
crucial run that the Apaches needed to stay in the game. A tie
game at the end of the seventh inning took the game to extra innings.
The Apaches scored three runs in the 8th inning when Brittany Sandoval
had a single to start off the rally, then a single by Katelyn Beiter,
and followed with a double by pitcher Melissa Beiter.
Freshmen Lauren Salinas hit as single which scored a run for the Apaches
to secure a comfortable lead. In the bottom of the 8th inning the
Apaches shut down the Knights offense. Congratulations Apache
Softball!
* Tonight is the final performance of the Drama
Society's production of Our Town. Join us for the show at
7:00pm.
* This evening at St. Mary's University is an Art
Reception from 6:30-8:00 in the art studios 2nd floor of CFharles
Francis Hall. Maps are on the art table by the cafeteria line.
Charlotte McCown, Rafael Ramirez, Regina Malagamba, Dee Aguilar, Lauren
Hall, Brian Feller, Leigh Jansma, and Alexis Rideau are among the
artists displayed.
* All those interested in running for Student Council
Executive Board next year must attend a meeting on Monday, April 23 in
308 with Mrs. Kadane.

Friday Mrs. Overton will be staying after school to accept nominations
for the following Drama Society officer positions: President,

* Happy Birthday today to Rebecca Canales and Michael

* Congratulations to the ACP Drum Line for receiving a
First Division Rating at the TAPPS Music Contest. Musicians
receiving First Division Ratings are Greg Martinez, Zach McLeod, and
Kyle Adams. Musicians receiving Second Division Ratings are
Chanell Garcia, Gustavo Garcia, and Sabrina Levinson. A Third Division
Rating was awarded to Leigh Jansma. A Fourth Division Rating was
awarded to Dana Traugott. The ACP Jazz Ensemble received a Second
Division Rating and a Third Division Rating. Overall Mr. Rodriguez
and the Antonian family are very proud of all your efforts.
* This Wednesday is your last chance to see the Drama
Society's production of Our Town. The show begins at
7:00pm.

* Tonight is the opening show of the Drama Society's
production of Our Town. The show will be up at 7:30 tonight
and tomorrow night. You can also see it at 7:00 next Wednesday,
April 18.
* Students, today was the deadline for turning in your
Literary Form to receive a Literary certificate at Convocation to
recognize your outside reading. If you read 5 or more books on the
College-Bound reading list but forgot to turn in the form, please bring
it on Monday. That will be the last day Mrs. Turner will accept
it.
* Students with an ice cream coupon should bring the
coupon with them to lunch today to redeem their Honor Roll ice cream
treat.

* Happy Birthday today to Francheska Bernier and Adam
Richter
* The Antonian Apache Baseball Team kept their playoff
hopes alive by pounding out 16 hits to defeat Holy Cross Wednesday by a
score of 13-12. Christian Carrion led the way at the plate with 4
hits and 3 runs batted in. Neff Rodriguez had 3 hits and 3 runs
batted in as well. Bill Tennant picked up the win in relief while
Christian Carrion was credited with the save.
* The Apache Softball Team played at St. Michael
Academy last night. The Varsity Apaches came out with a victory
beating the Crusaders 9-0. Melissa Beiter struck out 5 batters for
the night while Maricella Bissaro went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Lauren
Salinas went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's for the night. The Apaches are
now 4-2 in district and will take on Providence High School tomorrow at
7:00pm at Koger Stokes field.
* Thank you to all Scholar Bowl participants. We
had a great turnout and competition was intense! We would like to
congratulate the following winners who will advance to the next round:
Freshmen - Football Pups, Team Caliente, The Red Tomatoes, Lazy, The
Fantastic Five, Domination; Sophomores - The Flying Canadians, Sophomore
Studs, San Antonio State Spartans, The Ferocious "Felions", Team Girl
Squad and Christian, Team Oliva, Drama Junkies, Team Smack; Juniors -
Karam's Harem, The Gentlemen; Seniors - Vale Girls and Friends, AP Boys,
Rock Stars and The Men. Also thanks to all the teams who will not

* The Apache Softball Teams played last night against
Incarnate Word Shamrocks. The JV and Varsity Teams fought hard for
a win but came up short in the end. The Varsity Apaches will take
on St. Michael's Academy today at 5:00pm in Austin. Thank you to
all who came out to support the Softball Teams!
* Anyone considering trying out for the award winning

* Happy Birthday today to Bianca Gonzales
* Congratulations to the entire Track Team on their
outstanding performance at the Central Catholic Track Meet. The
Girls Team have won their fourth track meet this year, remaining
undefeated in the 400 and 800 relays. They won all the relays at
the Central meet, have broken the school record three times in the 400
relay and are only one second from breaking the 800 relay record.
The Boys Team have won one meet, placed second in another and have
improved steadily throughout the season. The Boys placed fifth
among 21 schools at Central beating several 3A and 4A schools. A
total of 73 schools have competed in all the meets. Our athletes
have performed extremely well against much larger teams and are
continuing to improve. Our next meet will be the District Meet
next week.

* The Varsity Apaches traveled yesterday to Laredo to
play St. Augustine. The Apaches dominated throughout the double
header, coming home with 2 victories. The Apaches beat St.
Augustine 15-0 the first game with a grand slam by senior Natalie
Sciano. The second game the Apaches beat St. Augustine 16-0.
Their next game is today at ACP against Cornerstone at 5:00.
* The Girls Tennis Team captured
the District Championship for the third year in a row. Leading the
team were Gina and Samantha Cangelosi who repeated as Girl's Doubles
Champions by destroying the competition 6-0, 6-0 in the finals.
Winning 3rd place Doubles were Kelsey Alex and Allison Dobbs.
Winning 4th place in singles was Aly Pena. In the Girl's JV
Division, Ursula Villarreal and Jaclyn Palmer placed 1st and 2nd in
singles. The Boys Team also did well and finished 2nd in the
District. Placing 3rd in doubles were Chris O'Connor and Davey
Morin. Adam Richter and Stephen Oliva placed 4th in doubles and
Travis Wiesner finished 4th in singles. In the Boys JV Division,
there was an all Antonian final doubles with Aaron Alvarez and Aaron
Godinez defeating Conor Gleason and Andres Casanova. Five boys and
five girls will now play in the State Tournament in Waco.

at TAPPS State this year, particularly in our Speech categories.

* The Girl's Track Team placed 2nd
this past weekend in the Bandera Relays. The Boy's placed 7th.
The JV Girl's placed 10th and the JV Boy's placed 5th. A total of
20 teams competed. The Girl's 400 relay took 1st place breaking
the school record twice in both the prelims and the finals.
McKenzie Pesnell, Frankie Bernier, Ashley Buenrostro and Andrea Arizpe
make up the relay team. The Girl's 800 relay also placed 1st in
the meet. Ashley Buenrostro, Leslie Heintzelman, Allison Michel
and Jane Neiheisel make up the relay team. Also at the meet Nate
Jones placed 1st in the 300 hurdles and Jane Neiheisel placed 1st in the
200 meter dash. Congratulations to the entire team of 85 athletes
for their hard work and excellent results.

* Magisters Bray and Sipe wish to
thank and congratulate the Antonian Latin Club for a superlative
performance this past weekend at the Texas State Junior Classical League
State Convention. Out of 90 schools, both public and private,
throughout Texas, Antonian brought home 2nd place - improving on last
year's 3rd place. Such success would not have been possible
without the dedication of all club members and the support of the entire
school. So again, Thank you to everyone for another great year.
* A very Special
Acknowledgement goes to Thanh Tran for the well-deserved award of "Latin
Student of the Year" in the state of Texas. We are very proud of

Speech and Debate Contest last Friday afternoon. The Antonian
student who tied for 1st Place in the upperclassmen category also took
home the 1st Place School Championship Ribbon. That student is
Dana Traugott. Dana is the only student this year in our Speech
and Debate Club who succeeded in taking home two 1st Place Ribbons on
the same night at an event. Dana is currently the #1 public
speaker at Antonian.

* Congratulations to the Boy's
Golf Team for a strong finish in the Bandera Bulldog Classic. The
team of Hunter Moore, Ramiro Fernandez, Stuart Lenz and Eddie DeVane
finished in 2nd place. In addition, congratulations to Stuart Lenz
for a 2nd place individual finish with only one stroke out of 1st and
also to Eddie DeVane who finished tied for 4th place in the tournament.

* Congratulations goes out to the
Antonian Chess Team! Next week, on April 4, Antonian will play
Clark High School in the Northside Independent School District beginning
at 4:30 for the San Antonio High School Chess Championship. This
is the first time that a public and private school have squared off
against each other in a high school title match in chess. The
title game is being sanctioned by the U.S. Chess Federation which is the
largest and most prestigious chess organization in the United States.
Antonian is just one win away from a city title. The winners from
Wednesday night's semi-final event were Vinnie Yanga who took home the
1st Place Award and CJ Agbanlog who took home the 3rd place ribbon.
Clark High School and Stevens High School took home the 2nd and 4th
place awards. Great job, Chess Club! Go Antonian - Beat

* The Varsity Apaches played
Providence Friday night and came out with a win beating the Provets 3-1.
The Apaches are now 1-1 in district and will take on Austin St.
Michael's Academy tomorrow at 5:00 in Austin.
* The Tennis Team participated in
the McFarlin Invitational Tournament this past weekend. It was the
first time that Antonian had been invited and there were over 30 public
schools from across Texas in attendance. Each player had 5 matches
which got progressively harder. All of the teams won at least 2
matches and winning 3 matches were Jaclyn Palmer and Aaron Godinez in
mixed doubles, Kelsey Alex and Allison Dobbs in girls doubles and Aly
Pena in singles. However the stars were Gina and Samantha
Cangelosi who won third place Gold Division. To achieve this honor
they had to defeat teams from Permian, Health Careers, Clark and
Churchill along the way. Congratulations to all players and thank
you to all the friends and family who showed up to support the team.

Providence at Antonian. JV game time is 5:00pm and Varsity game
time is 7:00pm.
* The Tennis Team played TMI on
Monday and St. Mary's Hall yesterday. There were several very
close matches at both events. Winners on Tuesday were Kris Palmer,

* At the Dominion Tennis
Tournament, five boys made it to semi-final play. Aaron Alvarez,
Adam Richter, Davey Morin, Chris O'Connor and Kris Palmer all won three
long matches to advance. On the Girl's side there was also some
good play including that of Becky Sauceda and Jaclyn Palmer. A
pair of young men who were returning to tennis from other sports had a
major victory in the final matches of the Dominion Tournament.
David Morin and Chris O'Connor won first place in the Boy's Doubles
Small School Division. In the A Division of the same tournament,
Gina and Samantha Cangelosi came from behind to place third in Girl's
Doubles. The Varsity Team will play in the McFarlin Invitational
Tournament on Friday.

attend all classes to be certified. If you are already a lifeguard
and need recertification in either Lifeguard training or CPR, please

Stephen Oliva and Adam Richter reached the quarterfinals after placing

* The JV Tennis Team defeated a
combined varsity/jv team from St. Gerard on Wednesday. Players
with at least two wins included Phillip McBride, Jonathan Overton, James
Sciano and Angie Garza who were all participating in their first dual
meet. The next match will be the Boys Varsity against St. Anthony.
* The Antonian Chess Team took
home the 1st and 3rd place awards at the February Chess Championship
yesterday. Matthew Trompler defeated players from Clark and
Stevens High School to take first place. Vinnie Yanga, with his
only loss to Matthew, took third place. CJ Agbanlog rounded up the
first 6 positions. The next competition will be March 28.
That event will determine which of the two schools play each other in
April for the City High School Chess Championship. Congratulations
to the Chess Team!

* The Lady Apache Varsity Softball
Team defeated the Pearsall Lady Horns last evening 9-0. Melissa
Beiter struck out 5 batters. Brittany Sandoval hit a homerun over
192 feet with a runner on to give the Apaches a comfortable lead over
the Horns.
* The Girls Tennis Team defeated
St. Anthony's in a dual match on Tuesday. Ursula Villarreal, Alex
Montelongo, Alyssa Sauceda, Kelsey Alex, Rebecca Mendez and Aini Nguy
all had two wins apiece. The Gina and Samantha Cangelosi defeated
not only the number one girls doubles but also a boys doubles team.

* Congratulations to the Boys
Varsity Basketball Team for their win in the Regional Tournament
over Beaumont Kelly. The team started off slow but managed to take
a 7 point lead at the half. In the second half the team pulled
away and were able to defeat Kelly. Myles Walker had 23 points,
including 2 dunks, Preston Jones had 11 points, Bobby Boyd had 9 points
with 9 rebounds and Johnny Park had 6 assists. This win advances the team to the State Final
Four beginning this Thursday in Tyler,Texas. Good Luck, Apaches!
* The Girls Varsity Basketball
Team lost their regional game to Fort Worth Nolan 46-57. Liz Boyd
had 16 points and Sarah Figueroa had 10 points in the valiant effort.
The Varsity Team ended their season 16-14 overall and 10-2 in district
play. Coach Ross would like to thank the faculty, staff, students
and their families for the support throughout the season. A
special thank you to the band, cheerleaders, Beto San Miguel and
Caroline Garcia for their participation before and during the games and
most importantly, all the young ladies who participated on the Freshmen,
JV and Varsity Teams.
* The Tennis Team played a very
close match with Central Catholic last Thursday. Winners included
Travis Wiesner, Jacob Stone, Evan Howard and Patrick Gleason.
However the shining stars were Aly Pena and Alex Montelongo who both
posted wins in singles competition. The next dual match will be on
Tuesday when the girls face St. Anthony. The JV will play St.
Gerard on Wednesday, the boys will play St. Anthony on Thursday and then
a group of varsity players will be in the Comfort Tournament on Friday.
* Attention all young ladies
interested in playing basketball next year. There will be a brief
meeting after school today with Coach Ross. Please be prompt and
in the gym by 3:25.

Guzman, Ryan Cassidy and Jordan Cole. The doubles team of Alyssa
Saucedo and Becky Sauceda won three rounds to reach the semi finals.
The remaining varsity players will be at a tournament in Marble Falls
today and there will be a dual match with Central Catholic on Thursday.
* Congratulations to the Lady Apache Girls Varsity
Soccer Team for their victory over Bishop Lynch this past Saturday in
the Regional Round by a score of 3-1. Sarah Hernandez scored the
three goals for the Lady Apaches. This advances the team to the
State Tournament this weekend at Baylor University. The Lady
Apaches will play Ursuline from Dallas on Friday at 1:30pm. Best
of Luck, Ladies! On to State!

* The Freshmen and JV Girls Basketball Teams finished
their season yesterday against Providence. The Freshmen Team won
their game 51-32. Feliz Ramirez scored 9 points, Amanda Garza and
Nicole Conlee had 8 points while Aly Rominger, Maggie Burger, Morgan
Greenwalt and Angelica Phillips each had 6 points. The Freshmen
Team ended their season with a 14-3 overall record and 8-0 in district
play. The JV Team won their game 55-22. Paige Bishop had 16
points and Rachel Ambelang had 10 points. The JV Team finished
their season with 18-3 overall and 11-1 in district play. Coach
Ross would like to thank all the girls for their hard work and
dedication through the long season. Congratulations, Lady Apaches!
* Congratulations goes out to Golfer Natalie Uy on an
11th place finish in yesterday's Boerne Invitational. Natalie shot
84 and finished 11 out of 85 golfers. Congratulations also to
freshman Stephanie Uy with a strong round in tough conditions.
